We want your views on outsourcing

My friend Dr Richard Sykes chairs the outsourcing and offshore group at UK hi-tech trade association Intellect. Last year, Richard and I wrote a book about Global Services and outsourcing for the BCS.

Richard’s group is running a major survey of industry to try predicting some future trends in outsourcing and offshoring and so if you are checking out this blog then it might be useful for you to go and try filling in the survey.

If you participate then there are some benefits and prizes as well as the warm feeling that your views will help shape some research into where the industry is headed. You can take part in the Intellect survey by clicking here.

I think that a corporate body is not an entity. Who said that a corp had to DIY everythiing? What nonsense is this? We have had freelance, consultant, expert advisors all along and now the word 'outsourcing' has become a political conundrum. Why? because of the money. The dudes in India and other places take less money per day to do 'apparently' the same thing so they are 'taking our jobs'? no.

The real issue is that corporations are all about making profit to pay the shareholders back for their loan (shares) with interest `(dividends) as well as the staff. If they only consider it as a money then shame on them. They would do better to consider value for money - in which case - no problem. The results will show where you should put the work out to. Getting good results in India? Scotand? Milton Keynes? that's the issue.

It's called service as far as I can remember....let's talk about that telephone answering machine and the robots on the phone... now there is some JUSTIFIED REBELLION swelling on this one....
